WOMEN'S HEALTH CENTER

“Women in East and Central Harlem have poor access to care and receive late or no prenatal care. East and Central Harlem experience an infant mortality rate that is two to three times that of the national goal.”

The health of mothers and children is an important measure of the overall health of a community. Ensuing that children get a healthy start and learn healthy behaviors has many long-term benefits. North General’s programs and services offer women a chance to receive the care and treatment they and their children need to live a long and healthy life.

The North General Diagnostic and Treatment Center’s Women’s Health Center offers a full range of obstetrical and gynecological services for women all ages, including adolescents. A team of obstetrician/gynecologists, nurse practitioners, midwives, physician assistants, LPNs and medical assistants provides services. The team has extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of complex gynecologic problems, family planning, gynecologic malignancies, and more.

The prenatal service offers expectant mothers the latest technology for pregnancy and delivery.

All routine obstetrical ambulatory care services are provided at the North General Diagnostic and Treatment Center. High-risk patients are referred to Mount Sinai Hospital for consultation and/or management. Patients deliver at The Mount Sinai Hospital.
