On Wednesday October 19th 2005, North General Hospital was pleased to present our Ninth Annual Visionary Awards Gala. We were proud to present Alphonse Fletcher Jr., Chairman and CEO of Fletcher Asset Management, with our Corporate Leadership Award, both for his belief in the power of education as well as his philanthropic efforts.
Dr. Jeremiah A. Barondess, President of the New York Academy of Medicine received the Medical Achievement Award for his work in the area of urban health. We presented the Community Service Award to New York State Senate Democratic Leader Senator David A. Paterson. He has fought to improve Medicaid's efficiency while extending health care coverage to every New Yorker who qualified and we thank him for his dedication and loyalty to the people of Harlem.
This year, the gala raised more than $600,000 because of the generosity of our honorees, our chairs, board members, advisory committee and all of you. Our success is truly valued and will enable us to continue to provide the vital services we offer to our community each day.
The generous contributions made towards the gala and throughout the year help us raise much-needed funds in order to sustain each of our departments. Without the support of our donors and our community, each of the stories you’ve read would not be possible. With your help, North General Hospital can continue to make positive changes in the lives of the people of our community.
Next year’s gala is sure to be the best ever and we hope to see each and every one of you there. Once again, the Gala will be held at Cipriani on October 19th, 2006 so mark your calendars now!
