Compensation
Our salary range is consistent with what is being offered in the New York City area, and is adjusted yearly.
The salaries for the academic year 2008-2009 are as follows:
- Interns: $54,565
- PGY-2: $57,666
- PGY-3: $61,663
- PGY-4 (Psychiatry only): $63,239
There is also an annual meal allowance, prorated monthly of $1,350.00
Vacation / Sick Time/ Benefits
Our residents receive twenty working days of vacation; 2 "free days" (mutually agreed upon by the Department and House Staff); 8 holidays (if not scheduled for on-call duty – alternate day off given for work on holiday mutually agreed upon by resident and the Department and House Staff); *12 days of sick leave per year cumulative to a maximum of 48 days.
The residents at North General Hospital are covered under the CIR (Committee of Interns and Residents) Collective Bargaining Agreement.
